Navajo Nation, Window Rock 2009

We recently returned from a mission trip to the Navajo Nation in Window Rock, Arizona. While there we cut wood for the elderly people of the Navajo Nation. There was seven members present on the trip. We spent four days walking around Pine Springs looking for dead trees to cut down. Once the sound of chain saws roared we knew our work was beginning.
We had the pleasure of worshipping with the people of First Community Church, led by Pastor Doyle and Judy Hale.
Towards the end of the week we got a day off and headed to Canyon de Chelly. A breathtaking picture of beauty and God's awesome creation.

We got to see one of Canyon de Chelly's special features "Spider Rock".

This year we went for a drive at the bottom of the canyon and got to climb Spider Rock!

Dillingham, Alaska 2009

In July this year we went to Dillingham, Alaska. It was our fourth year returning there. Over the four years we have helped Dillingham Bible Fellowship build a church and repair and upgrade the Youth Center located in downtown Dillingham.

The first year (2006) we visited the construction site to begin the foundation and was met with a frozen ground!

So we focused our work efforts on the Youth Center!

The second year (2007) the framing up went up!

The third year (2008) we installed electrical wiring, light fixtures, insulation, and sheet rock.

This year we laid carpet, linolium, baseboards, trim for the windows, water pump so they have indoor plumbing, hooked up stove, and built new steps for the front porch.

It was a bitter sweet ending to our time there. We were so excited to see the church completed and also to see the growth in the church. However, it was sad to say good by to the church family there.

Mission trips not only provide the opportunity to get to know and become closer to the team members but also the opportunity to make lasting relationships with those you meet. The people of Dillingham Bible Fellowship have made permanent relationship with us!
